August Update

Winter feed stocks are gradually mounting up and I am sure by the end of summer we should have enough for ourselves but will be rather short of hay for our horse keeping customers. We will have plenty of straw, a useful feed for the less productive animals ie those not producing milk or growing rapidly. Despite the apparently grass sparse fields the lambs have grown really well and stayed free of worms. All have now been sprayed to prevent fly strike, the most horrible condition we see as sheep farmers I believe and I will be almost anything to prevent. The lambs are being weaned and moved to "aftermath" grazing that is fresh regrown grass after a hay/silage cut. They soon settle down after a belly full of grass!
