Worst of the storm seems to have passed through for now and our phone line is still working!
Last week we have housed all the cattle for the winter period and in preparation for the compulsory TB tests today. We are fortunate to be in a TB free area at the moment and these tests are every 3-4 years. The water remains short and thanks to the help of a near by farmer we have borrowed a large water tanker to top up supplies. The other day I learnt we still need 2 inches of rain before the New Year prevent this being the driest year on this chaps long records, so far we have had about 14 inches!
With the rough weather predicted we have also housed a few of the smaller finishing lambs, we find they are much happier if we give them a dry bed and ad lib hay to eat.
13th December, TB testing
